How to Upload Reference Images Instead of Generating

Image Generation

Overview

You can upload your own visual references instead of using AI.

Steps

  1. Select a shot.

  2. Toggle View Images on.

  3. Click the Upload Image icon.

  4. Select files from your device.

When to Use This

  • You have mood boards.

  • You have location photos.

  • You're matching a specific look.

  • You want an exact likeness of an actor, location, or prop that AI is unlikely to reproduce accurately.

Notes

  • Uploaded images appear on the shot card and are exported in the PDF at the same size as AI-generated images.

  • You can mix uploaded and AI-generated images in the same project — each shot can use whichever approach works best.

  • Each shot holds one image at a time. Uploading a reference image to a shot prevents AI generation for that shot. If you've uploaded reference images to every shot, the Generate Images button will appear greyed out — this is expected. Remove the uploaded image first if you want to generate it instead.

  • Uploaded images do not count against your AI generation credit allowance.
